Peaceful Hours and Periwinkle had a grand holiday!
Sometimes it is hard to find something for a backdrop for the blocks, so........
I used a back. Doug's back to be exact! Doug, Randy and Terry are enjoying a wonderful sunny day at......
Clear Lake. This beautiful beach is located in Riding Mountain National Park. There is a quaint little town within the park that has a variety of shops to suit every tourist. My personal favourite was an ice cream shop. I think I might of visited there more than once.
In the Park Info Centre this quilt was hanging and has been since 1985. It was made by a group of local quilters to commemorate 100 years of National Parks.
We just could not get enough of beaches so we visited Grand Beach, just north of Winnipeg. It is know for it's white sand and shallow warm water.
Have you been to a beach yet this summer?

Over the Rainbow Spring Bouquet Completed!
Yes, before I left on holidays, I finished the quilt. It should of arrived at it's new home by now, so I can post a few pics.
It was a lot of work to complete in a very short time, but I am very happy with the results.
After all the appliqué was done, the quilting was the easiest part.
This picture draped over my machine shows the colours a little better.
Doug and I are still on our holiday, heading home from Winnipeg. The easiest way to tell if you are in Manitoba or Saskatchewan it by how bumpy the ride is. I must say that it is rather difficult to work on my Hexagons in Saskatchewan as I have to try and take a stitch between bumps.
Speaking of Hexagons, here is this weeks posted a little early, as I don't know when I will have internet next.

Isn't this little Panda just too cute?
Have a great day!

Farmer's Wife Blocks
Once again, I don't have the numbers of names for these blocks, but hopefully someone,(you know who you are) will fill that in in the comments.
So, does this picture help you figure out where the blocks are. A hint, it is the largest Tomahawk ever.
No, that hint wouldn't help me either, unless I had just been there. It is Cut Knife Alberta. Just one of the many little delightful towns we went through on our way through Alberta.
This is coming into Battleford just on the edge of Saskatchewan.
I was amazed at how wet and swampy Saskatchewan was. Not anything like I expected it to be.
We stopped at Manitou Lake overnight and enjoyed the sunset over the lake!
Hope you are all having happy trails, we certainly are.

I'll try and find wifi a little more regularly for the rest of my road trip! LOL!

Canadian Death Race
Yes, it was that time of year again. The Death Race in Grande Cache, Alberta. Harvey ran the race as part of a relay last year so he felt he should run as a solo this year.
This is Harvey at the start of the race looking so focused!
Transition 1 after about 21km. He was a little warm, needing a little sunscreen and on the right Gonda is busy refreshing his supplies. What a great group he had helping him.
This is transition 2 after climbing a the first mountain. Still focused and starting to hurt a little. Doug and I offered encouragement while Gonda got him ready to go again.
This is transition 3. The hurting is starting to set in. Harvey had sprained his ankle two weeks before, so Doug is icing it down while Gonda is resupplying the pack. Mountain two down.
After climbing the last big mountain, Hamel, Harvey was pulled by the Medics at the 89km point. His Kidneys were shutting down and he was dizzy and throwing up. All very normal for a ultra marathon runner who has reached the limit. He was trucked to transition 4 and we took it from there. This was at 2 am after he had been running for 16 hours. He was disappointed that he didn't finish but satisfied with his effort. Only 25 percent of the racers ever finish the 125 km race in the allotted 24 hours. I am very proud of the effort he put in. Just as a side note for the family, Harvey has completely recovered from the race, but has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his leg. A few weeks of light duties and he will be back running again. GO DEATH RACER!
Farmer's Wife Blocks
I would give you the block numbers but unfortunately I'm sitting in Starbucks in Winnipeg, and my book with the block names is back in Kamloops. LOL. Anyways, here are last weeks blocks, just a little late.
The red in the background give you the idea that perhaps this is another starting line for a race, but where?
If you were following me last year, this might give it away!
Once again I'm at the "Death Race" in Grande Cache, Alberta. The weather was beautiful as was the scenery. Grande Cache is on the eastern edge of the Rockies and is a wonderful place to visit. Not sure I would live there though.
On the way we saw a lot of wildlife along the edge of the road. The highlight was a white wolf eating a deer just outside of Grande Cache. I had never seen a wolf in the wild, so this was a first for me.
More on the race and why I was there, in the next post.
