Today will be our last instalment of Cotton + Steel. That is at least until the local store receives their supply and I can buy some more. My fat quarter pack is down to a few tiny scraps that have made their way to the scrap basket.
Today's quilt is brought to you by team Linda, Donna and Noeline.
If the quilt looks familiar, it is because it is the front cover quilt design of "Beyond Neutrals" that I showcased on Day 3. I have a few more quilts that I want to make from that particular book.
I love the finished quilt!
I took quilting inspiration from the quilting Angela Walters had done on the quilt in the book. Not quite as much fussing as she had done, but still nice.
Thanks to all my Postie Quilt Friends that made it possible to get all three quilts pieced in one day of laughter, love and sewing.
Linking up today with Finish it up Friday over at Crazy Mom Quilts.

Cotton + Steel Day Four
Todays project is a little mug rug. When you are down to the last few scraps of a fat quarter pack, this is what you make.
Now to the subject of the fabric line. I scooped this picture from Facebook of the fabric arriving at the Canadian distributor and waiting to be cut into bolt size pieces to ship to our local quilt stores.
I can hardly wait!!!! To kill a little time while waiting, check out the cotton + steel page. Here is a link to a video on what the company is all about. Have a fabulous day and come back tomorrow for the final quilt made by team Linda, Donna and Noeline.

Cotton + Steel Day Three
Todays quilt is brought to you by team Wanda and Midge.
A great team and great friends. Thanks you two!!!!!
And where did the pattern come from you ask. Well, I just bought this fabulous new book!
John blogs at Quiltdad so pop on over and check him out.
I kept the quilting simple on this one so that the fabric could speak volumes. There were a few light creams that I didn't include in this quilt, but the rest of the basics are here!
Two more days of Cotton + Steel to go, see you tomorrow!!!!

Cotton + Steel Day Two
Today's Cotton + Steel project is something that I just had to make. As I cut the fabric for larger quilts, I couldn't help but admire the beautiful selvages on the fabric.
I found a scrap of batting, a zipper that I had laying around and a bit of purple yardage.
I top stitched the selvages on top of the piece of batting.
Check out the tutorial here that I used as a guideline. I cut out the outer and inner bag pieces and inserted the zipper as instructed in the tutorial.
The result is this fabulous selvage open wide zip pouch. I know you just have to have one!!!!
Come back tomorrow for the quilt made by team Midge and Wanda.

Cotton + Steel, all week long!!!!!!!!
Cotton + Steel has arrived in the Canadian warehouse and is being shipped now, to a quilt store near you! I was fortunate to have an advance fat quarter bundle of the basics.
Mmm good! I gathered together seven of my Postie friends, booked a room at Katja's, and started to play.
Today I would like to show you the quilt pieced by team Terry and Rae.
The pattern is "Diamonds are Forever" by Rashida Coleman. Rashida is one of the designers of Cotton + Steel. The pattern was a little tricky to work with, but Terry and Rae were up for the challenge.
The quilt has fireside on the back. Stretchy backing and eight layers of fabric at the points made for some funky quilting.
This concludes my first day in a week of Cotton + Steel. Come back right through Friday to see how many projects you can make from one fat quarter bundle!

Kamloops Modern Quilt Group Show and Tell
Last Saturday was the meeting of the Kamloops Modern Quilt Group. Our challenge block was modern appliqué.
Each person gave an explanation as to what made their block modern, and the meaning behind the block. Great fun!
As always there was a little show and tell not related to the challenge.
Lovely work everyone!
Next months challenge is a useful item that isn't a quilt block. Katja had an example with the vest that Sonja had knit for her, using the little bits that are cut off when a fat quarter is cut.
Other suggestions were bags, mug rugs or anything else you can come up. I can hardly wait for next month to see what everyone makes!

Dog Bones
This cute little quilt was inspired by "Lattice Bones" from the Moda Bake Shop. I had shown my way of making the block here.
I had a bit of dog and cat themed fabric that I put to good use in this quilt!
This will be a kids quilt so I kept the quilting fairly simple. A ribbon in the background and wavy lines in the bones. Of course it has Minky on the back so it will be extremely cuddly.
Linking up today with Crazy Mom Quilts. Pop on over and check out some of the wonderful creations.

Jeannie's Stash Buster Quilt
First on my list when I returned from holidays was quilting Jeannie's beautiful Stash Busters Quilt.
I borrowed this beautiful picture from her Facebook page!
These I took while quilting the quilt. It was great fun playing in the blocks.
Just in case you are in the mood to see another fabulous Stash Busters Quilt, click here to check out Margaret's quilt.
