Figures by Zen Chic

A fat eighth bundle of Figures by Zen Chic, and a little Kate spain grey.  What more could a quilter want?  I got right to work and this is what I came up with.

At first I wasn't sure if the peach colour really went with the rest of the line.  However, with the grey background, it worked.  We had a break from the recent rainy weather so I was able to hang this one on the clothes line for it's pic.

The sunshine is perfect for taking pictures of the quilting.

While outside we had to visit the garden.  I managed to get my onion bulbs, kohlrabi seeds and cabbage in before the rain set in again.

I'm linking up with Finish it up Friday.  If you have a moment, pop on over and check out a few of the projects.

Chance of Flowers

Today I am linking up with Finish it up Friday with my latest finish, "Chance of Flowers."

The Granny Square pattern is available here.  I found it through the Moda Bake Shop.  It just happens to be one of Amanda Jean's patterns from Crazymomquilts.

I quilted it with an overall leaf pattern in Lime Green.

I have often been asked what is the hardest part of being a long arm quilter.  Well, let me show you.

The hardest part is being a mechanic on my machine.  I have a very simple Gammill, thank goodness.  The first time I had a switch go, I almost had heart failure.  Now…..

I grab a new switch, transfer the wires one at a time, and put the switch back in place.  Why one at a time, well, if you don't there is a big chance you will mix them up.  That is why I now know where the fuse is located on my machine.  LOL!!!!!  It really wasn't that funny at the time. I can change a check spring almost as fast as a switch.  Luckily it doesn't happen as often, but I no longer panic when it does.

Kamloops Modern Quilt Group April Meeting

Our last meeting was held April 12 at Katja's.  Nineteen adventuresome women were in attendance.  We jumped right in with our challenge "hot pink, out of the box."

Several participants made for a fabulous show and tell!

Katja showed a picture of a modern block of the month coming soon to the shop.  Stay posted for more details as they become available.

Linda proposed an exchange of 2 1/2" squares of modern fabric.  100 different fabrics per bag and up to 10 bags each to exchange.  Betty will be in charge of the exchange next meeting.

General show and tell was next.

A great variety of projects!

The next meeting will be at 1 pm. at Katja's May 10.  The challenge for the May meeting is "traditional made modern"  with the colour black.

Candy Coated

A friend ask if I would help make quilts for a family who recently were burnt out of their home. As every quilter would, I agreed, and then headed for my scrap bag.

I found just a few scraps that I thought would work for a ten year old girl.

I cut and slashed the pile into manageable sizes, pulled out my Sunday Morning Quilt, and got to work.

I threw a little thread at the quilt!

And here it is.  "Candy Coated" ready to go.

I'm linking to finish it up friday hosted by Amanda Jean, one of the authors of the Sunday Morning Quilts book.

A Stash Buster Finish

I finally quilted one of my Stash Buster Quilts!

I had to quilt this one first.  All that open space to play in, yahoo!

And play I did!
