A Harley T-Shirt Quilt

This Harley quilt was a project that I helped a friend make, for a friend of hers.

It was so large that when I hung it from my deck, it was laying in the Peonies below.

The T-Shirts were a collection of Harley shirts from around the world.  The farthest away was Rome, and of course there was one from right here at home in Kamloops.

The San Francisco block shows the quilting the best.  At first I was going to quilt with black thread, and then I decided to use a variegated black and white.  I was really happy with the choice.

A couple of the shirts were very stretchy and therefore required a little more attention while quilting. As well, a couple had a lot of rubberized material in the logo that caused a few problems with skipped stitches.  Despite all this, I was thrilled with the way this quilt turned out. I just hope the recipient is as happy as I am!

It's Elementary!

By Sweetwater.  I could not resist this fabric when I first saw it.  It is delicious!

In my stash I had the perfect grunge to go with the line of fabric.

Of course the pattern is from my current favourite book, Beyond Neutral.  When I took the quilt into Katja's, she had just finished cutting six inch strips of the complete collection.  Perfect for making the quilt!

Inspired by…...

My friends!  Recently I quilted quilts, for two different friends.  I loved them both and decided I had to make a quilt combining the two.

My first inspiration was the colours in this quilt.

This was a baby quilt of Kathy's that I had quilted with hearts.

The next quilt was my inspiration for a pattern.

I loved the big bright chunks of fabric in Joanne's quilt.

I quilted this one with large daisies to mimic the flowers in some of the prints.

So my quilt was "Inspired by" my friends.

The picture was taken indoors and doesn't really do the colours justice.

The real fun was in the quilting.  Lots of space to play, so play I did!

The End of the Hexie Trip.

All good things must come to an end.  The Hexies and I are home after another prairie adventure.

Our last stop in Winnipeg was at Grand Beach.  Sandcastles were under construction for a competition the following weekend.  It was a Humid 30 degrees so the beach began to fill up quickly.

We headed west and ended up at Gull Lake for an evening.  A delightful little prairie town celebrating the combination of farming and oil.

As great as the holiday was, I couldn't stop smiling when we came to the mountains and back into BC. Nothing quite like the feeling of home!

Hexing at Birds Hill

We made it to Winnipeg!

This little match hexie is hanging around the fire pit at our campsite in Birds Hill Park.

This is the same campsite we stayed in two years ago.  Great park just a few minutes out of town.  The bugs aren't as bad as we thought they might me considering the flooding in the area recently.  The screen tent is up just in case!

Cat's In The Rye

Through Regina, on to Brandon and then and overnight in Carberry.  Where is Carberry you ask.  It's a small town about an hour and a half west of Winnipeg.  Lovely little town with a great golf course that has camping.  Finding the campsite was a happy accident.  We were looking for another that was advertised on the highway, and happened on this one instead.

My little cat hexie couldn't wait to play in the field of Rye.   I did have to ask what grain this was, as I really didn't have a clue.

We did have a rabbit visit our campsite, but I didn't get my camera out in time.  We watched the golfers driving by on their golf carts and enjoyed a little quiet time.

Hexing Around Swift Current

This sweet little Hexie is hanging around our camper trailer at Swift Current.  We had a great pull through campsite just across the highway from town.  Since we didn't want to unhook the trailer, we walked into town to Starbucks.

For those that think Saskatchewan is flat, this picture shows the rolling landscape of the Prairies.  A grain elevator with a big Canadian flag says it all.

What happens to old farm equipment in Swift Current?  Well, it becomes flower beds.  LOL! Love this idea.

Obviously this picture was taken while rolling down the highway.  The amount of marsh land aways amazes me.

Next stop, Manitoba!
