I Am Soooooo Lucky!

I am so lucky to have all my blog friends!  Last Saturday I went to a meeting at the local quilt store and sat next to Marie, who had followed along on the quilt along.  I hadn't met her other than through her emails as Toad, so it was a nice surprise to finally meet in person.

Of course a lot of my quilty friends were there and it was great to catch up with them!  Through quilting I have met a lot of wonderful people, and for that, I am thankful every day.

However, today I am more thankful than usual.  I went out to the Dentist, which is never fun, and came home to a present at two of my three doors.  Wow.

The present at the front door was from Donna.  A lot of Nova Scotia loving.  The grape jelly was made from her own grapes, and the sea shells collected from her beach.  Blueberry syrup and Lavender soap and lip balm, all made in Nova Scotia.  And the placemat, oh my goodness!  Love it.

Donna took one of the blocks from the Quilt Along and made me this stunning work of art. The quilting on it is fabulous.  Thank you so much Donna!!!!!!

And now for the back door.

Hanging from the back door was a gift bag with treasures.  A little (LOT) of Crossroads Denim and a Starbucks card.  I am one very lucky quilter!!!!  A special thanks to a special friend.

It's hard to get back to reality after having been so spoilt.  I think I'll sit back and sip on my Starbucks Tea a little before I cut into the Denim.  I have a plan and will show you what I make when it is done.  Hope you are having a great day wherever you may be!

And The Winner Is…..

Marie Tate.  The last winner on my Quilt Along is Marie!  Woohoo!!!!!  She receives the book New York Beauty Diversified.  Thanks to everyone who participated in the Quilt Along.  I had so much fun coming up with blocks that inspired me from throughout the blogging universe.

I was asked what I will do next on the blog.  Well, I'm not really sure.  I'm open for suggestions so leave a comment below if you have an idea of something you would participate in.

One of the tutorials on this blog is for a pattern I called Bali Boxes.  Wendy made this pattern and then had me quilt it for her.

It's so rewarding to see my patterns come to life!  Thanks Wendy.

Kaleido-Krazy

Last Saturday I presented my class at Katja's to a group of adventuresome women!  This is a shot of a few of their blocks.

Within a few days Betty posted this picture of a few more blocks.

Look at those circles!  Woohoo Betty!

My shop sample had a little funkier setting.  I was looking at each block as a star and wanted to focus on that.  Betty's blocks show the more traditional setting of a Kaleido Block.  The original block I made for the quilt along is here.  For the class I upsized to a 4 1/2" strip.  Great fun!

A Few Canned Pears

The pattern "Canned Pears" by Fig Tree was a delight to make.

It was made for a friend and was really hard to give to her.  LOL!

I struggled with how to quilt inside the pears.  I finally decided on a wavy line.  Since there was so much quilting in the background, I had to do something in the pears.

I also made the Moda Alphabet quilt out of American Jane "Ducks In A Row," for the same friend.

This quilt received a little in the ditch and a simple loopy meander.

Donna asked that I show the quilting on my Bali Tile quilt so here it is.

I used several different colours of Glide thread on this one.  Dark blue on the black really shows off the quilting.  The quilt is currently at Katja's for those of you who live nearby and would like to see it.

It is currently -20 C. here in Kamloops, great weather for staying in and quilting.  Hope you are staying warm where you are.
