Maple Leaf Forever

To celebrate Canada's upcoming 150th birthday Northcott has made available a free pattern called Maple Leaf Forever.  Click here for the link.

This is my version of the pattern.  It was a bit of a marathon to complete the 160 half square units for that maple leaf border, but so worth the effort.

I kept the quilting simple so I would actually get it done!!!!

I've been busy trying to catch up with some quilting for friends.  This is a rather large quilt of Bev's that I added a little texture to.  The star where the blocks meet was a happy coincidence.

Betty's quilt from the book "Pre-cut Primer" is done and hanging on the wall at Katja's.  Great job on the piecing Betty.

Hoffman Digitals, Again!!!

Just in case you aren't into the Hoffman animal prints from the last post, here is one of their Christmas Digital prints.

The quilting is simple straight line quilting radiating out from the centre.

I had a lot of fun adding this border to the Halloween Digital print.  The quilting is ziggy lines once again, radiating out from the centre.

And a little more texture for today.  It really is all about the quilting, after all.  This delightful quilt is Bev's.   She wanted straight lines and something in the centre.  This is how I interpreted that.

Hoffman Digital Wildlife

The new Hoffman Digital Wildlife prints will be arriving in stores soon!!!!!  They are amazing.
Lucky for me, i was asked to play with a few of them ahead of release.

The Bear and the Fox are both incredible prints.  The patterns are available here on the Hoffman site. I quilted both with an all over design so that the fabric could speak for itself.

This bag is made by Margaret.  She made the modern meshwork panel at a workshop I had put on for the local Guild earlier in the year.  I love what she did with it.

Shiny Mix

This quilt is my latest finished.  It is "Shiny Mix" featuring Shiny Objects by Flaurie & Finch for RJR Fabrics.

I made if for a birthday gift for a friend, but since she is sooooo impatient, I'll give it to her as soon as she tells me she has seen this post.  How is that for a challenge.

This Northcott block is from Family Fabrics in Arborg Manitoba.  Thanks to Lucy for a care package of block kits from the Prairies.

I am off to retreat this weekend.  Good Friends, Good Quilting, Good Times!!!!!

Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Purebred

Happy Friday everyone.  Even though winter seams to be hanging on longer than usual, make the most of your day and get a little sewing done!

The kit for this quilt was a gift from a lovely friend.  I finally put myself first and finished it!  It is called Purebred, by Erin Michael.  The quilt now resides on my couch to be used by me!!!!!!  I love it.

Lots of echo type quilting was used to define the horse.  The Fireside on the back really shows off the quilting, and makes the quilt extra cosy to nap under.

Well I'm off to shovel the driveway, then time for a bit of sewing.

A Blast From The Past

This is my B.C. Sampler resurrected from the unfinished basket of tops.  The top was completed in 2002ish.  It's been so long even Katja who designed it, wasn't sure of the date.  I had quilted several of these quilts for friends so I had put mine away for a later date. Finally, it is done.

Not only done, but on a bed.  The spare room was painted blue so this quilt fit in perfectly.

This is my first Northcott block from Alberta.  A Special thanks to Hayley for picking this one up for me.  It is from My Sewing Room in Calgary.  What is more perfect from Cowtown than a Cowboy hat?  Love it!

Till next time, have a great day!

Compositions

The latest quilt off the frame is made from "Compositions" by Basic Grey.  I love everything about this line.  Great background fabrics or put them together to make a quilt similar to the one below.

This design is one of my favourites for showing off fabric.

The quilting is fairly simple with a fern type design in the stars and wavy lines in the background.

The fun never stops with patterns from Funky Friends Factory.  This is Hannah the Hedgehog.

She is out playing in the snow because we are all hoping this is the last chance to do this.  The kit for Hanna will be available at Katja's shortly.
