Merry Christmas

I hope that each and every one of you have a very Merry Christmas.  Take some time with family and friends and enjoy the season.

Wednesday I managed to finish up the last of my Christmas sewing.  These little kitties are from Funky Friends Factory.  They are going to some special little girls.  The pattern is one of the more advanced patterns.

This was the pinning process to attach the pads to the bottom of the feet.  The pattern was great and I'm extremely pleased with the results.

The last block for the Moda Be My Neighbor quilt came out on Monday.  I searched for a line I hadn't used yet, and came up with Barcelona by Zen Chic.  I think it is about three years old, but it was perfect for the last block.

The first of two quilts is finished and out the door to it's new home.  It was very windy when I was trying to get a picture so this is the best I could do.

Enjoy the holidays everyone!!!!!

Kisses

This weeks finish is "Kisses" from the book 12 - Pack Quilts.  Barb and Mary of Me and My Sister have come up with several quilts that are made from 12 fat quarters.  The day I took the picture of my quilt it was -20 C and the wind was blowing.  There was a funky shadow from my tree, and I just didn't care!  Way to cold to be playing around.

The Moda Be My Neighbor blocks are up to date.  The top one is made from True Blue by Zen Chic and Momma Said Sew II by Sweetwater.  The bottom on is Basic Mixologie by Studio M. Only one more block and then it's time to get this one together.

Gail brought her quilt from my Kaleido-Design class to Guild.  This is her own original design. Great work Gail!

Staying with the season, this is Joan's Christmas hanging that she had me quilt up for her.  The needle turn appliqué on this one is fabulous!

Manderley by Franny and Jane

This quilt has been finished for some time and has gone off to it's new owner.  I loved it so much that I have remade it but have not yet found time to quilt it.

I saw a version of this quilt here, and couldn't wait to try it out.  The fabric is Manderley by Franny and Jane for Moda.  It has wonderful motifs on it that are perfect for fussy cutting hexagons.  I have a bit of it left and I'm sure I'll be using it shortly.

A special someone will recognize this quilt.  Yes, it is finally quilted!  This was Lucy's first foray into EPP.  I know she is hooked now and has several other projects in the works.  Great quilt Lucy.

The Moda Be My Neighbor blocks are finally all caught up.  The top one is made with Sundrops by Corey Yodder and the second one is Kate Spain's Early Bird fabric just released at Fall Market.  Now if only I could get caught up on my Splendid Sampler blocks.  I'm sure I'm about 60 behind on them.  Oh well!

More Cotton + Steel

The first quilt I want to show you is made from the Black and White Collaborative with a little bit of Sleep Tight thrown in.

Once again the women of Cotton + Steel have come up with some adorable prints.

This quilt is made from Wonderland by Rifle Paper Co for Cotton + Steel.  The pattern is inspired by the Bread and Butterflies quilt pattern that will be on their web site when the fabric is released in January.  Going from the picture in their pamphlet I made it my way.

I am almost caught up on my Moda Be My Neighbor blocks.  The top block is made from Sweetwater's Treehouse Club.  The middle block is made from Zen Chic's Flow and the bottom block is Gina Martin's Wing and Leaf.  One more to go and then I'm up to date and waiting for Monday's release of the next block.

I can no longer say I never win anything.  I won this sweet iron in a draw at Quilt Market.  I have had my eye on one for a while, but was a little reluctant to buy it.  The company is a Canadian Company out of Toronto with an interesting history of selling Dry Cleaning equipment.  They shipped the iron to me in time to finish up the last of my samples.  I am delighted with the iron's performance.  If you are in the market for a new iron, I highly recommend this model.  It is available at Cherry Tree Quilts in Summerland or Anderson's in Kamloops.

S.S. Bluebird by Cotton+Steel

S.S. Bluebird is a collaborative collection from Cotton + Steel. It came home from Market with me and was quickly turned into this quilt.

Something for everyone! I would be hard pressed to pick a favourite.  The Racoons, Whales and letters would be in the running.  The whole collection is fabulous.  I have used the Shadow Box pattern before and thought it worked well to show off the fabrics.  The quilting is simple wavy lines as I was on a pretty tight deadline.

I managed to finish twelve quilts in eight days.  They are all salesman samples for Trendtex fabrics.  The Cotton + Steel is released in January.  The Moda will be released in the spring.

Peppie's Giveaway

I would like to introduce you to Peppie first, then we will get to the giveaway contest.

Peppie is my quilt made from Katja's upcoming 2017 quilt-along based on her Perpetual Calendar.  It is called Perpetually Hexie and is available here.  Perpetually Hexie is quite the mouthful, so I named mine "Peppie."  The picture was taken at the Moda booth at Market, with Josh Dunn helping to display the quilt.  All the fabric used was made by Moda.  Each ring is a different fabric line.  The background is assorted low volume fabric, and the back is a Moda Grunge.

Now for the contest.  There are twelve rings in the quilt.  Ten different Moda Designers' Fabrics are used for these rings.  If you zoom in on the picture you can get a better look.  The first part of the contest is to come up with the names of the ten designers.  Each comment that does will be entered to win....

One of these adorable little packages.  Moda's theme was Super Heroes.  The package includes a set of tea towels that can be made into little stuffed Super Heroes, or used as is.  For more info on these cute packages, click here.  If you check out my Instagram feed you will have a huge head start.  (Lindasquiltmania)

Each comment, whether listing the designers or not, will be entered to win fabric.  I am in full blown Sample mode using the newest releases from Market.  I will compile a few leftovers to make a couple of packages up that will be at least a metre of fabric.

The contest will be open until November 10 at midnight.  Good luck!

Glowing Hearts

Just released, the Glowing Hearts Fabric!!!!!!

In a rush for an idea I pieced 5" squares and then fused "Glorious & Free."  Probably my favourite words from our national anthem .  The picture was taken before the binding was finished so it could go on the road earlier this year with my favourite Trend-Tex sales rep.

The fabric was designed by Grace Noel (Canadian Designer) for Trend-Tex Fabrics.  Moda printed the fabric so you know the quality is great.

Trend-Tex is sponsoring a contest to design and make a quilt from the collection.  There will be prizes and the lucky winner will have their quilt displayed at Quilt Festival in Chicago next May. All this in celebration of Canada's 150th Anniversary in 2017.  Check with your local quilt store for more details.

Number 8 of my Moda Be My Neighbor quilt along is finished.  The fabric is Grand Canal by Kate Spain.

That's it for production this week.  Last weekend was spent in Valemount with a lovely group of local quilters teaching "Kaleido-Design" and "Wonky Houses."  Each time I go to Valemount I feel like I'm coming home.  Pat and Don are the best hosts, and the whole group is so welcoming.  This weekend I'm in Houston for Quilt Market.  Another place that has become very familiar.  More pictures to come of that next week.
