A friend asked if I would help her get some quilts together for the Elizabeth Fry Society. They are proudly opening a new transition house in Kamloops. There will be four suites available for women and their children, for up to two years.
I went through my closet of quilts, and came up with a few that need to go to new homes.
My stack had eleven quilts, and Noeline's stack had seven. The society was thrilled and hopefully has enough quilts for a couple of years.
This quilt I had been hanging on to the longest. It was made with my Postie friends and was paper foundation pieced. I love it and though it was time it was put to good use.
Obviously this was during my yellow and blue phase. This was a sample showing blocks made with the Tri Recs Ruler.
Another class sample for a mystery quilt using the Easy Angle Ruler.
These three were samples made for Katja's to show fabric she was selling at the time.
These two were thrown in at the last minute when we were told that the first occupant of the suites had two teenage boys. I was scrambling a bit so the second quilt is two pieces of fabric sewn together with a black border. Not up to my usual standards, but cute none the less.
The other quilts in the stack are ones that I have shown before on the blog.
A quick reminder to those of you that live in Kamloops. The CQA will be presenting the show "It's Time for Colour" next Monday and Tuesday at Katja's. If you have a minute pop into the classroom and check out the display!
Have a great weekend everyone.

The New Hexagon Millefiore Quilt-A-Long Update
I'm three months into Katja's Quilt-A-Long, and loving it. Click here for details if you think you want to join in. I'm following the progress of the 2670 members of the Facebook group. Amazing work by some very talented quilters.
My first three rosettes are currently hanging in Katja's store, as her first three are with Martingale, on their way to Spring Quilt Market. Wahoooo!
My favourite so far is Number 3, The orange rosette on the right. I did change the hexagons a little so that I could use the view master fabric. I have a little of the Cotton + Steel new black and white fabric that I want to incorporate into Rosette 4. By a little, I mean a half metre cut of each courtesy of a good friend. Thanks, you know who you are!!!!
Katja took pictures of my Rosettes and set them into the layout so that I can see how they play together. I'm finding them a little blue/green. I'm going to have to be a little adventuresome with my choice of colours on the next few rosettes.
Wishing you a wonderful week, happy stitching!

Harley T-Shirt Quilt
Someone special was turning 60 recently, so it was time to get his Harley T-shirt quilt done.
As with all T-shirt quilts, the quilting was a little tricky. The T-shirts have interfacing on the back, but they still move around when they are quilted. A few small puckers but……
The HOG (Harley Owner's Group) quilt was done.
Dale is just peeking over the top of his quilt. I hope it keeps him warm!!!!

"I've Got Nothin In My Brain"
As I write this I'm listening to Taylor Swift singing "I've Got Nothin In My Brain." Lol! I think every woman has a brain overflowing with creativity. Sometimes it's hard to shut off!
Anyways, today I want to share a few finishes. First up, A Jelly Roll Race quilt liberated from my unfinished top basket.
I was motivated to finish this top so that it can be given to the local "Elizabeth Fry Society" for a transition home they are about to open. More about that soon.
I had to quilt daisies, it just made sense!
I finished up a couple of knitting projects. The baby hats are the same wool and pattern, with the only difference being moss stitch on one, and two by two ribbing on the other. The socks were a busy hands project from a little mini holiday a couple of weeks ago. I'm quite happy with how they turned out.
The favourite part of my week was a Monday night "chat" with the Sagebrush Quilters' Guild. Thanks to Sandy for the following pics.
Thanks for all the positive feedback from the wonderful women of the Guild!
And the least favourite part of my week…….
Mechanic work on my Long Arm Machine. All those little tools for little screws. Uggg! Glasses definitely needed. I changed out my Check Spring as it wasn't working quite right. Within five minutes, my off/on switch went. I no longer panic when this happens! I go through a few each year. The custom work (In The Ditch) really stressed the part. Time to order a few more.
I hope you had a fabulous week, and found a little time to let the creativity leak out!

Another Brava Bag
I just couldn't help myself. I love my Cotton + Steel Brava bag so much, that I had to make another one from slightly different fabric.
I consider this bag a little more sedate! The wonderful greys and browns in this bag will make it so versatile.
My iPad will travel in the back pocket. The button is made by 2goodclaymates. These delectable buttons are made in Chase and are sold at Katja's.

Jelly Turnover Quilt
I love cruising through the Moda Bake Shop for inspiration. Todays quilt was made from the Jelly Turnover pattern available here. I started with a fat eighth package of Kansas Troubles' fabric.
As always I adapted the pattern so that I used my Easy Angle Ruler to make the half squares.
The piecing went fairly quickly!
I tried to keep the quilting gender neutral. It is so hard to come up with masculine quilts. Kansas Troubles is my go to fabric for a man quilt!

Postie Charity Quilts
My Postie quilting group decided we needed to make a few quilts for local charities. Three of us started with the Same Jelly Roll of Batiks. This is what we come up with.
Terry's Turtle quilt will make a child very happy!
Joanne used one of her favourite patterns to whip this up in a couple of hours,
I played with this my strips and came up with this quilt. It turned out a little smaller than I wanted, so a border was added.
I reached into my basket of unfinished tops and pulled these two out to finish. The top is a Winding Ways quilt. The kit came out about ten years ago and all the pieces were laser cut. The second quilt is a scrappy nine patch snowball quilt that is at least 15 years old. It really needed to be finished!!!!! There was one more quilt made by "N" that I missed getting a picture of. Sorry. The pile of quilts have been delivered to Sagebrush Quilters' Guild and will be given to charities they support.
