Scrap-Basket Beauties

I have been waiting impatiently for the release of Kim Brackett's new book Scrap-Basket Beauties.  It finally arrived at Katja's so I scooped up a copy and rushed home to start a quilt from the book.

The Hourglass quilt on the front cover looked too cute.  I just had to make it.  The blocks are pieced, borders are just going on now.  Hopefully I will have time to quilt it this weekend.

Just like the last two Scrap Basket books, this one has several very easy quilts that will really eat up those scraps you have laying around.  And what if you don't have any scraps, well a Jelly Roll or Bali Pop will work wonderfully.

And for those of you that are wondering about how I'm making out with my Basket of quilt tops, I just quilted number 7.  I committed to myself that I would finish 16 this year.  That means I have to quilt one a month for the rest of the year.  I think I'm up for the challenge.

This is a flannel quilt I pieced about four years ago.  You can't see the quilting very well in the picture, but I decided to make this a quilting sampler.  Several of the designs I teach in my free motion quilting class are on the quilt.

Have a wonderful Easter Weekend everyone!!!!!!

  6. I absolutely LOVE your blocks. They're so colorful and happy. Thanks so much for sharing, and for your kind words about the book. The flannel quilt is lovely, too. Good luck with meeting your goal of 16 quilts. Sounds like you're well on your way!
