Canada's Sesquicentennial Celebration by Northcott

On July 1, 2017 we will be Canada's 150th birthday!  Wooohoooo!  One of the ways for quilters to celebrate is to participate in Northcott's Trans-Canada Block Party.  Each participating quilt shop will have a block design you can collect either as a kit or a free pattern.  You must have someone appear in person at the store to collect.  Click here for the map of participating stores.

My first stoop for the block party was at Katja's right here in Kamloops.

Katja had shown me the design late last year.  As soon as she opened in the New Year, I was at her door to get mine.  I did hand button hole stitch around the leaf, as I'm trying to improve my embroidery skills.

I would like to make a quilt from several blocks, including one from each participating province. If you live in Ontario, Quebec or the Maritimes, and would like to trade for one of my local shop's patterns or kits, please send me a message.  I'll be begging friends who live in various parts of B.C. and Alberta to pick up kits for me as well.

I hope you will be joining in the Block Party.  My goal is to have a quilt top done by July 1 to celebrate Canada day.  We'll see how that goes.
